PRESIDENT
EMMA RICHARDSON (K-12)

I have been with the East Central BOCES VNETS project for the past five years. It is a successful program that uses video conferencing and a Moodle online course management site to deliver its distance learning classes to 17 school districts. As Distance Learning Coordinator, I have spent my time scheduling, coordinating, innovating and researching new technologies in an attempt to provide the best environment possible for learning. Our system delivers high school and college level classes. I have a passion for this field and will bring that passion to this project.
I have long wanted to see some State movement and collaboration between all the programs that are in existence (and that are still to come) and I believe that this organization has great potential to make this happen. I was excited to see so much interest in our initial meeting and think it is important that we keep a balanced board and involve all sectors of this field as we move forward.

SECRETARY
Arlene Salyards (K12)

I have worked for the NE BOCES for 10 years. Within these 10 years, five have been dedicated to establishing a distance learning network shared by 12 school districts. Currently the NE BOCES distance learning consortium shares core content as well as college level coursework. Two programs that are unique in our offerings include Med Prep and Pre-Engineering. The establishment of a Colorado Distance Learning Association brings great promise for the sustainability and sharing of such programs throughout our state. Education is an exciting adventure and a moving target. Our students' learning is my focus.
